Telling Tales for all Ages

The DISDH library has organised six tale telling events for children and students ranging in age from Preschool to grade 9 with Ms Hermann, our German teacher who has already demonstrated her wonderful narrative talent at past literary events.

This time, Mrs. Hermann was not alone. She was joined by her mother who came from Germany for the special event. The duo performed two fairy tales for each group adapting the tales for the various ages.

There were typical fairy tales, animal stories, local legends such as the story of "Watzmann", an Indian story from Canada, and for grades 8 and 9, one of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic horror short stories "The treacherous heart", which cast a spell over the entire audience. Thanks to the narrative and theatrical talents of mother and daughter, it was an entertaining, stimulating and linguistically instructive encounter with the fantasy world of literature for all listeners. As always, our technical group was a reliable and supportive component of this successful event.
