Milou Vlaar wins the 26th Literary and Translation Competition

Milou Vlaar, a student at Martinus College Grootebroek, is the 26th winner of the Literary and Translation Competition 2018, organised and hosted by the German International School The Hague (DISDH).
Milou prevailed in this year's competition against more than 100 other students from all over the Netherlands. The award ceremony took place in a festive setting with music, theatre and speeches. The organisers were very pleased that the German author Karina Kalisa was able to attend the festivities.

After a musical welcome and greetings by the DISDH School Principal, Uwe Hinxlage, the cultural representative of the Austrian Embassy Daria Bouwman and the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Netherlands Dirk Brengelmann, Karina Kalisa took the stage and gave insight into her book published in 2015. Her appearance was followed by the award ceremony with accompanying tandem reading. The competition text from the novel "Sungs Laden" was read in German by the author and the Dutch translation by the competition winner Milou Vlaar. Afterwards, all the winners joined on stage once again for a joint photo before the evening ended with a “Borrel”.
