Grade 11 students pay respect to D-Day

It was 75 years ago that the Allied forces landed in Normandy marking a decisive step on the path to liberating Europe from the Nazi regime. This week, commemoration ceremonies are taking place across Europe. Our grade 11 students paid their respect for this historical day in a most special way. Herma-Jozé Blaauwgeers, a Dutch woman whose father was executed by the National Socialists on 6 June 1944 as a consequence of the Allies landing, told of her father's life in an intense and emotional manner. We sincerely thank Mrs. Blaauwgeers for having come to DISDH to share her father's fate with us.
