As a German school with an international focus, languages are naturally an important subject for our pupils from the very beginning. Bilingualism and multilingualism are considered an asset by both the school community and especially by our pupils. A host of languages play a central role in everyday school life, which is why our children are especially curious and open-minded about language-learning. We address this interest and consciously promote it by incorporating pupils' existing language skills into our lessons.
Our Primary School children learn Dutch from Grade 1. With Dutch staff working in our afternoon programme and teaching at our Primary School, pupils come into contact with the national language in a very natural and informal way. Primary School pupils in Grades 1 and 2 can also opt to take English. From Grade 3, English becomes a compulsory part of the timetable. In the first two years, languages are taught through play and musical activities. Children also enjoy going to the library with us and discovering our constantly growing collection of German and foreign language books.
