Kangeroo competition at DISDH
Datum Aktivität: 3/21/2016

The nationwide Kangaroo competition was held on 17 March 2016 for which 98 DISDH students participated. The competition was not so much about the well-known Australian animal but students’ mathematical skills. These are tested by means of a multiple-choice quiz. For the competition last Thursday, more than 850,000 pupils from 10,000 schools in Germany were registered. The voluntary exam competition was written in the various schools under the supervision of teachers. The aim of this event is to support the mathematical education in schools and to awaken the joy of dealing with mathematics. Furthermore, the interesting mathematical tasks are intended to promote independent working and promote work in general in the classroom. Each test lasts 75 minutes and comprises of 24 tasks for grades 3 and 4 and 30 tasks for grades 7 to 12.
This year’s DISDH-participants were made up of 19 students from the third grade, 23 from the fourth grade, 27 students from grades 5 and 6, and 27 from grades 7, 8 and 9.
We eagerly await the news regarding the placements of our students. As recognition for their achievements, the participants will receive small prizes and certificates.

A special thank you goes out to our math teacher Mr. Knut Vogeler for having organised this year’s Kangaroo Competition at the DISDH!
